Rajahmundry: A 62-year-old tribal woman was killed in East Godavari district here for allegedly practising black magic, police said.

The woman, Pallala Panthamma, treated local tribals suffering from ailments with native medicines. But they suspected her of practising black magic and took her and her family to Gondhiwada village on the night of October 13, police told PTI.

She succumbed to injuries after being pelted with stones and beaten with sticks. Her body was later burnt by the the tribals, police said.

 Panthamma's son Neelappa Reddy and his wife escaped from the spot and registered a complaint with the Maredumulli police station on October 14,they said. Further investigations are on, police said.
