Mexico City: Searchers found the wreckage of a small plane and the bodies of its three occupants after the aircraft crashed in northern Mexico amid rough weather.
Mexico s Civil Aviation Department said yesterday in a news release that the dead included Baja California Sur state Finance Secretary Nabor Garcia Aguirre, the pilot and co-pilot of the twin-engine Cessna 402C.
The plane, owned by the state government, crashed on Friday in the Sierra de Hidalgo mountains about 10 minutes after taking off from an airport in the city of Monterrey.
Bad weather and mountainous terrain prevented rescuers from reaching the scene until midday yesterday.
The statement said authorities were investigating the cause of the crash, and noted that the plane was flying on instruments because of poor visibility and heavy cloud cover in the area.
The aircraft had been headed to the La Paz airport in Baja California Sur. Source : PTI
