States should help in disposal of pending cases

Aurangabad: Chief Justice of India K G Balakrishnan said it is the duty of the states to set up more courts so to assure speedy disposal of the pending cases.

He was speaking after laying the foundation stone of the Lawyers Chamber here today.

The Chief Justice said each district should have family courts. There more than 400 districts which still do not have such courts he added.

He said establishing of lawyers chamber, which provides facilities to the lawyers and the clients, is a successful practice world-wide.

Balakrishnan lamented that a number of cases under the Negotiable Instruments Act and that under the IPC 498 (A) pending in various courts.

Stressing the need of lok adalats, he said that Delhi will also be having atleast one lok adalat a week, if not daily.

Lauding the demand made by Vilasrao Deshmukh for establishing a National School of Law in Aurangabad, he said many students passing out from such schools get jobs abroad.

Chief Minister Vilasrao Deshmukh, and Chief Justice of Bombay High Court Swatanter Kumar were also present on the occasion.

Justice Kumar thanked the state for accepting the demand of having lawyers chamber in Aurangabad.
