New Delhi: Congress General Secretary and scion of the Gandhi-Nehru family, Rahul Gandhi, would embark on a three-day tour of Uttarakhand from Monday in a bid to attract youths to the party and also to restructure the NSUI and the Youth Congress by experimenting with internal elections.
Gandhi would begin his tour with a convention of girl students at Ramnagar. It will be a free-wheeling interactive session in which the girl students would pose questions to the Amethi MP and would get candid answers.
The other major programme would be at the Hemvati Nandan Bahuguna University at Srinagar in Garhwal. The university students would interact with the youth leader in which ideas would be exchanged and queries addressed.
Party sources said in the two interactive sessions, the students would be encouraged to pose any question they feel like. Both the programme are being organised by the Uttarakhand unit of the NSUI.
On the third and final day of the tour to the hill-state, Gandhi is expected to address a press conference in the state capital, Dehradun.
This is the second consecutive political visit of Gandhi to a state after his whirlwind tour in Punjab last month.
Interestingly, both the states which Gandhi has chosen to streamline the frontal organisations are ruled by the Opposition parties.
