New Delhi: BJP on Sunday welcomed the decision of announcing poll dates for Jammu and Kashmir hoping that the decision to do so will prove to be a milestone in democratic history of the country.

"We welcome the decision and this has cleared many apprehensions. We are sure that the decision would prove to be a milestone in democratic history of the country and the state of Jammu and Kashmir in specific," BJP spokesperson Prakash Jawdekar said.

Stating that the party is ready for the polls, he assured that the people of the state would elect the government of their choice with BJP making major gains.

"The whole exercise is poised to give a boost to the mainstream political parties in the state," Jawdekar added.
