Political parties condemn attack by MNS
Sunday, October 19, 2008 20:08 [IST]

Mumbai: Political parties have condemned the attack by MNS activists on north Indian candidates who had come to appear in railway board exam in the city.

"Strict action should be taken on MNS activists for the attack," Congress leader Sanjay Nirupam told reporters here on Sunday.

Nirupam criticised MNS chief Raj Thackeray for repeatedly breaking laws in this manner. "Raj is continuously going against the law and I think it is high time that he should be arrested," he said.

Echoing similar sentiments, NCP spokesperson Gurunath Kulkarni also demanded harsh action against the activists.

"I condemned the attack by MNS activists. They are not doing any good for Marathi people but spoiling the name of Maharashtra," Kulkarni said.

Following the attack by Maharashtra Navnirman Sena on north Indian candidates, Shiv Senas student organisation Akhil Bhartiya Vidyarthi Sena also allegedly attacked Nerul exam centre in Navi Mumbai.

The activists from Akhil Bhartiya Vidyarthi Sena tried to disrupt the railway board exam at Nerul and forced the candidates to leave the hall, police said.
