Police takes agitating BJP workers into custody
Monday, October 20, 2008 13:48 [IST]
Hyderabad: Over 150 BJP workers and leaders including the party state unit chief Bandaru Dattatreya were taken into custody when they staged a sit-in in front of the DGP office here today.

The police prevented slogan shouting BJP activists when they tried to barge into the DGP office in protest against arrest of "innocent party workers and Sangh Parivar activists" in connection with the recent communal violence at Bhainsa town in Adilabad district.

The BJP workers observed the sit-in for about an hour on the busy road raising slogans against the State government and the police.

Earlier, addressing the gathering Dattatreya alleged that the police have foisted cases against BJP and Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) workers and arrested workers were being harassed because it failed to prevent the communal clashes on October 10.
