Sanjay Aggarwal new SpiceJet chief executive
Monday, October 20, 2008 13:49 [IST]

New Delhi: Virtually without a chief executive officer (CEO) for over three months, low-cost carrier SpiceJet Monday appointed Sanjay Aggarwal as its CEO with immediate effect.

Aggarwal takes over the position from Siddhanth Sharma, who quit the airline July 12 to join rival carrier Indigo Airlines when SpiceJet was undergoing severe financial crisis and needed cash infusion of Rs.3.45 billion from US investor Wilbur Ross.

Till now, Aggarwal was SpiceJet's chief operating officer. He had earlier worked with the US Airways.
