Bhutan refugees call for fresh talks
Monday, October 20, 2008 21:35 [IST]

Kathmandu: The United Bhutanese Refugees Repatriation Programming Council has called for a fresh dialogue involving four parties that includes representatives of India, Nepal, Bhutan and the refugees to resolve the refugee issue permanently.

Submitting its seven-point memorandum to Nepal Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal "Prachanda" today, the council has demanded that the third country resettlement process of the refugees should be stopped immediately, initiate fresh dialogue involving four parties -- India, Nepal, Bhutan and refugees and to resolve the refugees issue as per international standard.

The refugees have informed that they will continue their campaign to return to their homeland in a dignified manner and asked all concerned sides to show sensitivity to their problem.
