Kolhapur: Four youths were arrested for blackmailing an Income Tax official to extort a sum of Rs 20 lakh from him, police said today. Dayanand Patil (29), Amit Rao(23), Satyawan Bharate (25)and Vitthal Lonuste (27), who posed as cameramen from news channels, conducted a sting operation on tax officer Amrit Dalavi s activities, they said.
Using these footage, they threatened Dalavi to cough up Rs 20 lakh, they added. However, Dalavi alerted the police who then laid a trap and nabbed the four youths, police said.
