Mob ransacks PCC office for denying ticket
Monday, October 27, 2008 15:57 [IST]
Jaipur: Irked supporters of a local Congress leader today ransacked the party office here alleging that their leader's candidature was not considered for the Adarsh Nagar seat in the capital city.

Confirming the incident, Congress Spokesman Raghav said supporters of aspirant Riazuddin attacked the office and damaged window panes.

The supporters claimed that the party is likely to field one Mohd Mihir Azad in the minority seat and their leader s name was not considered. They felt Azad is an outsider and the claim of their leader is more justified.

However, the spokesman said this is not the case as the candidate list is not yet finalised.

PCC President C P Joshi told PTI he had been informed about the incident and is checking for details. But he added that selection criteria of candidates is purely based on merit.
