Harry may stay in uniform flying helicopters
Monday, October 27, 2008 18:59 [IST]

London: Prince Harry, the third in line to the British throne, plans to follow the footsteps of his uncle, the Duke of York, and train to be a helicopter pilot.

If his plans materialise, Prince Harry, like Prince William, will remain in uniform for at least five years before either of them will even consider becoming full-time working members of the British royal family.

Prince Harry has volunteered for selection to be a helicopter pilot with the Army Air Corps. The Duke of York flew helicopters for the Royal Navy during the Falklands War.

Prince Harry completed the initial pilot aptitude tests at RAF Cranwell earlier this month. Next month he will begin a four-week assessment course to determine whether he makes the grade to be a pilot.
