Mumbai: The police have found a tin containing black oil paint from the hotel room in which slain Rahul Raj had checked in. Other things such as marksheets, school leaving certificates and clothes were also recovered from there.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (Zone-V) Milind Bharmbe said, "He might have kept the paint to blacken somebodys face. However, no incriminating documents were found in the room." The police are still investigating how he procured the country-made revolver with live bullets, Bharmbe added.
Rahul Raj, son of Kundan Prasad Singh of Patna, landed in Mumbai on October 26. He checked in to a room at Hotel Imperial Andheri (E) at around 6.45. He left his hotel room at around 8.30 am on Monday, said a police officer attached to the Vinobha Bhave Nagar police station.
Police said Rahul Raj, who hijacked a BEST double-decker bus near Bail Bazaar in Kurla on Monday morning, left enough evidence in the hotel room to suggest that he was in a fragile frame of mind that may have brought on his criminal behaviour.
Senior inspector Pradeep Suryawanshi of Andheri police station said the police team that inspected his room, found broken light bulbs and glasses there which indicate he was deeply upset. Raj is believed to have been busy watching television in his hotel room the whole of Sunday.
