Powerful earthquake rattles western Pakistan

Islamabad: An earthquake registering 6.5 on the Richter scale shook western Pakistan early Wednesday, Pakistani broadcaster Geo TV reported on its website.

There were no immediate reports of injuries.

In Quetta, capital of Baluchistan province, there were reports of several collapsed buildings and panic among residents.

The epicentre of the quake was 70 km northeast of Quetta, at a depth of 10 km underground.
