Colombo: Unfazed by LTTE air strikes on Mannar and Colombo, the Sri Lankan troops today captured another small village close to Kilinochchi destroying more Tiger bunkers, official said.
Government forces captured the village of Jayapura located northeast of Nachchikuda after day-long fierce fighting, latest reports from the battlefront said.
With the capture of Jayapura, Sri Lankan troops have now tightened their noose around the key Sea Tiger bastion of Nachchikuda, which is the main naval base for Kilinochchi.
The army claimed that while retreating from Jayapura, LTTE had forced local civilians to move with them.
The troops advance came even as LTTE aircrafts in daring raids bombed an army camp in Mannar and a power station in the capital. Source : PTI
