Candidates file nominations for Chattisgarh polls

Raipur: Sixty-six candidates today filed their nominations in the second phase for the Chattisgarh assembly elections, official sources said.

Sports minister Brijmohan Aggarwal is contesting from Raipur, BJP State President Vishnudev Sai from Jashpur while former minister Nanki Ram Kanwar will contest from Korba, they said.

Election Commission has decided to hold Chattisgarh assembly elections in two phases. In the first phase, 39 assembly seats from 10 districts will go for polls on November 14. Second phase will witness polls for 51 seats from 8 districts on November 20.

The votes will be counted on December 8.

Notification for the second phase was issued on October 27. The last day for filing nominations is November 3 while November 6 is the deadline for withdrawal of nominations.
