Friday, October 31, 2008 19:38 [IST]
Dhaka: At least 10 people were killed and two others injured when a lorry plunged into a roadside ditch in central Tangail district of Bangladesh, police said.

The fertiliser laden truck which was carrying 17 passengers, mostly poor people, fell into a ditch killing most of them instantly in the Kalihati area, they said.

The accident took place when the driver of the truck, which was heading towards northwestern Bogra from Dhaka, apparently lost his control, the officials said.

Four of the 10 victims were identified and injured were send to a local hospital where condition of the two is said to be critical.
