New Delhi: In an attempt to woo the voters to their fold, the main political parties BJP and Congress are roping in leaders from down South to reach out to over seven lakh south-Indians in the poll-bound Delhi.
With the assembly polls just weeks away, the parties are also preparing pamphlets and other election materials in regional languages to highlight their achievements and election promises.
Senior leaders of BJP and Congress from Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, Kerala and Karnataka will be in the national capital from this week to canvass among their community members for their party candidates in the respective seats.
"Since there are large number of people from Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, Kerala and Karnataka staying in Delhi we have decided to bring in leaders from the South. They can convince them in their own dialect," BJP leader from Kerala Purusothaman told PTI.
From BJP camp, senior leaders L Ganesan, Pon Radhakrishnan and C P Radhakrishnan (Tamil Nadu), former Union Minister O Rajagopal and CK Padmanabhan (Kerala) and Bandaru Dhattreya from Andhra Pradesh will campaign in the areas dominated by south-Indians.
While from Congress, TNCC president K V Thangkabalu, APCC president D Srinivas and Union Minister G K Vasan are likely to campaign for the party. Party insiders say that these leaders will be campaigning in areas like Karol Bagh, R K Puram, Munirka, INA Market and other places where there is a sizeable chunk of south-Indian population.
