Wednesday, November 05, 2008 15:18 [IST]

Raipur: The Election Commission has ordered the removal of Koria district Superintendent of Police A.M. Jury after complaints of favouring a political party, official said Wednesday.

Sources informed that the commission has approved Neha Champavat, commandant of state police's seventh battalion, to replace Jury.

The commission Oct 24 had ordered the transfers of three Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officials - Bastar Divisional Commissioner Ganesh Shankar Mishra, Raipur Collector Sonmoni Borah and Kanker Collector K.R. Pishda.

The state goes to polls in two phases - Nov 14 and 20 - to elect a new 90-member state assembly.

The commission has set up 20,952 polling stations in Chhattisgarh where 15,207,734 voters are eligible to exercise their franchise. In the first phase, 39 segments will go to polls while remaining 51 seats will see election in the second and the final phase.
