University teachers protest demanding pay hike

New Delhi: Hundreds of university teachers today took out a protest march in the national capital demanding immediate implementation of the Chaddha committee recommendations on pay hike.

"The recommendations made by the Chaddha Committee is awaiting approval from the Ministry of Human Resource Development (HRD) for more than a month. We demand its immediate implementation," Aditya Narayan Mishra, President of FEDCUTA and Delhi University Teachers Association (DUTA) said.

He claimed that they have not received any communication regarding pay revision neither from the University Grants Commission nor from the HRD Ministry.

"Other government employees are getting an enhanced salary. Only we are left out," one of the teacher from Jamia Malia Islamia University complained.

Many teachers of central government universities like Delhi University, Aligarh Muslim University, Jawaharlal Nehru University, Mizoram University, among others, participated in the rally.
