Houston: An Indian American has been awarded the "Advocate of the Year Award" by the Houston Minority Business Enterprise Centre here, while a Texas-based firm established by another person of Indian origin has been judged the "Technology Firm of the year".
Jagdip Ahluwalia, Executive Director of the Indo American Chamber of Commerce of Greater Houston, was pronounced the "Advocate of the Year" at the 28th Minority Enterprise Development week.
Founded by Indira Vishnampet of Indian-origin, Texas-based firm Hydus, specialising in providing enterprise information management solution, won the "Technology Firm of the year" award.
"We believe very strongly in the power of partnerships and IACCGH has been proactive in including the leadership of other minority chambers of commerce and economic development agencies in all our plans and programs," Ahluwalia told PTI.
The Indo American Chamber of Commerce of Greater Houston, established in 1999,has included in its activities the creation of business opportunities with India through inbound and outbound trade delegations.
