Three Maoist women wanted by Orissa nabbed

Malkangiri (Orissa): Three Maoist rebel women, who are wanted by both Orissa and Andhra Pradesh for their alleged involvement in about 20 criminal cases were arrested Friday in Orissa's Malkangiri district, the police said.

The Special Operations Group (SOG) of the Orissa police arrested the three women and their male colleague during a raid on a Maoist training camp in the forest near village MV 79 in Malkangiri district, about 700 km from capital Bhubaneswar.

District Superintendent of Police Satish Gajbhiye said Maoist literature, including books and leaflets written in Hindi, English and Telugu, as well as explosives, mobiles, iPods, mobile chargers and cash worth Rs.10,000 were seized from the rebels.

They were working as assistant commanders of the local Korokonda arm of the outlawed Communist Party of India-Maoist (CPI-Maoist).
