Islamabad: At least 13 people, including five foreigners, were killed in a missile strike today by a suspected US drone in Pakistan's troubled North Waziristan tribal region bordering Afghanistan.
The missile struck the home of a tribesman in a village near Razmak, 45 km from Miranshah, the headquarters of North Waziristan Agency, early this morning. Five foreigners were among the dead, officials told TV channels.
The attack was the latest in a series of missile strikes carried out in Pakistan's lawless tribal belt by US drones operating from Afghanistan. Pakistan has angrily protested against the attacks, describing them as a violation of its sovereignty, and called on the US to stop them immediately. US military officials have said several top Taliban and Al Qaida leaders have been killed in the strikes.
