Friday, November 07, 2008 18:46 [IST]

Chandigarh: The Indian National Students Organisation (INSO) today demanded imposition of President's rule in Haryana and asked for a probe by a sitting high court judge into all fake encounters by police.

A five member party delegation led by its state in-charge Prof Randhir Singh Cheeka, state unit president Vikas Rathee, INSO's Chandigarh president Sunil Kumar met Haryana Governor Dr A R Kidwai and submitted a memorandum asking for imposition of President s rule in the state.

"The state government has failed to uphold its constitutional duty of safeguarding the life of its citizens."

"The law and order has collapsed totally and a situation of complete anarchy exists in the state," INSO leaders told the governor.

The party activists observed a two minutes silence in memory of Kuldeep Tanwar. Tanwar was killed in an alleged "fake encounter" in Bhiwani on November three.
