Muzaffarnagar: A local court today framed murder charges against dreaded criminal Sanjiv alias Jiwa in connection with the killing of a cable operator here.

Additional District Judge Awivaram Singh framed the charges against the accused, who was brought from Azamgarh jail amid tight security, and fixed November 20 as the next date of hearing in the case. The cable operator, Devender Tyagi, was shot dead on July 24,2005 in the city.

Jiwa, who carried a reward of Rs 50,000 on his head, is involved in several murder cases in the state, including the killing of former BJP minister Braham Dutt Dwivedi and MLA Krishanan Rai, police said.
