Saturday, November 08, 2008 15:52 [IST]

Ranchi: A man was shot dead by suspected Maoists in Gumla district, the police said here today.

A 35-year-old villager, identified as Naseer Ali, was kidnapped by Maoists last night from his home at Kansir village, who took him to a nearby place called Upar-khadma and opened fire on him from close range, the Raidih police station sources said.

The police found a note near the body. The note purportedly written by the Maoists has accused Ansari of being police informer, the police added.
