Karnal: A family from Maharashtra, residing here for the past 15 years, in a complaint to the police has alleged that it was threatened by two men who barged into their house of dire consequences.

The police have registered a case under various sections of the IPC relating to illegal trespass and threatening on the complaint of Kalpana, wife of a construction worker, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) A S Chawla told PTI.

He said that efforts were on to identify the two youths.

"It is an isolated case involving one family from Maharashtra as no threat in general has been issued against other families from the state who reside here," he said.

Chawla said the family had after the incident not lodged a complaint with the police, but instead approached a section of the local press.

The family had alleged that they were threatened because they belonged to Maharashtra.
