IED recovered from goods truck in JK
Saturday, November 08, 2008 17:29 [IST]
Srinagar: Security forces today recovered an improvised explosive device (IED), concealed in a tiffin box, from a goods truck in Batamaloo area of the city, official sources said here.

A team of special operations group of police got a tip off about an IED being brought into the city from Sopore area of Baramulla district in a goods truck. The truck was intercepted at Batamaloo, the sources said.

They said an IED concealed in a tiffin box was found in one of the boxes loaded on the truck.

A bomb disposal squad was called up which took the explosive to an isolated place for neutralisation.

Security agencies are on a high alert following inputs that militants might try to sneak in arms and ammunition into the city to disrupt the ensuing polls in the state.
