Acres of revenue land locked up in Court disputes

Malappuram: Acres of revenue land, including about 2000 acres of land in the district alone, are locked up in disputes in various Courts across the state, Revenue Minister K P Rajendran said today.

`The Government is fighting the cases legally and once retrieved, a major portion of the land will be disbursed to landless people , he said pariticipating in a title deed distribution function here.

The Minister also distributed title deeds to those who were granted land recently.

Later, Rajendran told reporters that a suitable site for the proposed campus for the Aligarh Muslim University would be identified within two weeks.

After inspecting a 400-acre site at Panakkad, he said sites had also been identified at Nilambur and Perinthalmanna in the district for the purpose.

However, the Minister hinted that the land at Panakkad might get the nod as it was now in the possession of the Government.
