Amritsar: Becoming upset over alleged extra-marital affair of her daughter-in-law, a 65-year old woman today committed suicide jumping from the third floor of her house here, police said.

Mohinder Kaur, a widow and retired principal of a government school, left a suicide note, saying that she was compelled to take the extreme step due to extra-marital relation between her daughter-in-law and a neighbour which was unbearable and shameful for the family, they said.

Kaur was perturbed due to the affair and warned her daughter-in-law several times.

A case has been registered but no one has been arrested so far as enquiry is in progress in this regard, they added.
