Asian Seed Congress in Hyderabad from November 9

Hyderabad: Hyderabad will host the Asian Seed Congress 2008 , one of the biggest international seed industry events in Asia and Pacific region from November 9-13.

The National Seed Association of India in collaboration with the Asia Pacific Seed Association (APSA) will organise the Seed Congress at the Hyderabad International Convention Centre here, APSA president Madoka Koshibe said here today.

The five-day event will be inaugurated by Union Agriculture Minister Sharad Pawar on November 11. Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy will be present on the occasion.

The annual event will bring together business executives, academicians, scientists and government officials in the global seed industry to deliberate on issues such as IPR, international trade, seed testing, vegetables, hybrid rice, tropical forage etc.

Emerging and re-emerging seed pests and diseases in Asia Pacific region will also be discussed, he said.

The event will promote interaction among government officials, decision makers from associations and corporate sector and academicians, Koshibe said.
