Tehran:Two men found guilty of kidnapping and murdering a nine-year-old boy on Iran s Gulf island of Kish have been hanged, a newspaper reported today.
The daily Etemad named the killers only as Ali and Hassan, and said the abduction and murder took place last year. It did not say when or where the men were executed.
The two, who had demanded a 150-million-rial (11,500-euro) ransom from the boy's parents, were hanged after their death sentence was confirmed by the supreme court, the newspaper said.
The latest hanging brings to at least 199 the number of executions in Iran this year, according to an AFP count.
Amnesty International says Iran carried out more death sentences in 2007 than any other country apart from China, executing 317 people.
Capital offences in the Islamic republic include murder, rape, armed robbery, drug trafficking and adultery.
