Coimbatore: While BJP workers across the country are celebrating the 81st birthday of their leader L K Advani, Saturday, Coimbatore North District party workers have prepared a laddu weighing 82 kgs, to mark his 82nd birth anniversary.
The laddu, two feet high, was made of 40 kg of sugar, 30 kg of Bengal Gram powder and 10 kg of dry fruits and spices such as raisin, cashew nut, cardamom and clove, BJP Tamil Nadu secretary, G K S Selvakumar told PTI.
It took 20 litres of oil and ghee to roast the dough, with a total cost of little over Rs.12,000,he said.
The laddu is displayed at the party office and would be distributed to the children of Sevashram, an orphanage, Selvakumar said.
The sweet was prepared by local cooks Madan Mohan and Nanda Gopal.
