Mumbai: Maharashtra Navnirman Sena chief Raj Thackeray presented himself before the Kalyan railway police station on Saturday as per the court's order. He was granted bail by the first class judicial court at Kalyan in a case relating to the attack on North Indians candidates earlier.
Vijay Jadhav, senior police inspector, of Kalyan railway police station said, "Raj Thackeray arrived at the police station at around 11.20am and was allowed to leave after 25 minutes. He was questioned on the attack on the North Indian candidates at Kalyan station on October 19," said Jadhav. But, Jadhav refused to say what Thackeray revealed during the investigation.
During Thackeray's visit, the railway police maintained tight security around the police station. No untoward incident by MNS activists took place during Raj's visit. Raj Thackeray will again be appearing before the police, on Monday, for further questioning.
Thackeray was arrested by the police on October 22 from Ratnagiri. He was granted bail by the Bandra metropolitan court in the case registered at Kherwadi police station and the first class judicial magistrates court at Kalyan granted him bail on October 23 in the case registered against him at the Manpada police station. In the intervening period, the Kalyan railway police had sought his custody.
The students, that were attacked by MNS activists, had come to Kalyan and other places in the state to appear for Railway recruitment examinations.
