Ranchi: As the strike of the Jharkhand state para teachers association (JSPTA) entered its eighth day today, the BJP today accused the Shibu Soren government of being insensitive towards the demands of the agitating teachers.
"It is eight days since 80,000 para teachers are on strike, but the UPA government has not taken any step to address their demands," the leader of opposition Arjun Munda told a press conference here.
"On one hand the government is announcing jobs for the post of teachers in thousands and on the other, it is browbeating the striking para teachers," the senior BJP leader said.
The JSPTA is on an indefinite strike from November 1 demanding job regularisation.
Condemning HRD minister Bandhu Tirkey's reported statement that the striking para teachers were free to quit their job, the former chief minister termed it as being " insensitive" towards the "legitimate demands".
BJP's state unit president P N Singh alleged that the Soren government was creating new blocks " only in places represented by the UPA MLAa and ignoring the recommendations of opposition MLAs".
"We have seen during the over two month rule of the UPA government in Jharkhand---development works have come to a standstill and law and order has deteriorated while the chief minister is busy promoting his son Hemant Soren," Singh alleged.
