PDP releases list of 7 candidates for JK

Srinagar: People's Democratic Party (PDP) today announced a list of seven candidates including former deputy chief minister Muzaffar Hussain Baig for the Baramulla district of Jammu and Kashmir which is going to polls on December seven.

The list, recommended by the parliamentary affairs committee of the party, was approved by PDP president Mehbooba Mufti, a party spokesperson said. He said while Baig will be party's candidate from Baramulla constituency where he won in 2002 polls, National Conference defectors Iftikhar Hussain Ansari and Mohammad Dilawar Mir will contest from Pattan and Rafiabad segments.

Other candidates of the party are Basharat Bukhari (Sangrama), Abdul Khaliq (Sopore), Ghulam Mohiuddin Shiekh (Gulmarg) and Shabir Mangral (Uri). The spokesman said the candidates for rest of the constituencies will be announced soon. With this, the total number of candidates announced by the party for the 87-member assembly has gone upto 58. The party has not fielded any candidates in Kargil and Nobra constituencies.
