Kalam to inaugurate seminar on aerospace technologies

Chandigarh: Former President A P J Abdul Kalam will inaugurate a two-day national seminar on recent advances in aerospace technologies, maintenance and optimisation beginning here on Friday.

The seminar will provide an open forum for people involved in aerospace technologies and business to exchange their views,
experiences on the latest technologies and strategies with a focus on future expansion of aero industry in the country, Aeronautical Society of India (Chandigarh chapter) chairman Dr Satish Kumar said on Thursday.

Around 250 participants from various Academics institutions and industries are expected to participate in the seminar.

Aeronautical Society of India, a professional body of scientists started in 1948 by late Prime Minister Jawahar Lal Nehru, is organising the seminar.

He said that the rapid growth in aerospace technologies in the last century had openend up new areas of immense commercial
opportunities.

"It is also aimed at promoting industry and their services towards the advancement of aerospace technologies," he said.

He said that the focus of the seminar will be aerospace aerodynamics, aerospace propulsion, multidisciplinary optimisation in aerospace and aerospace structures.

Dr Kumar said that the national aerospace olympiad will be conducted by the society from december four to six at Nagpur

Besides the seminar, 12 companies will also exhibit their products related to aerospace during the next two days.
