Zeishta Devi shrine board denies link with Pandey
Thursday, November 13, 2008 18:52 [IST]
Jammu: The management of Sringagar-based Zeishta Devi Prabandak Board (ZDPB) today said that Swami Amritanand (alias Daynand Pandey) arrested in connection with Malegaon blast case had nothing to do with the shrine board.

"We refute media reports that Panday was ever associated with Zeishta Devi Prabandak Board," a publicity spokesman of ZDPB said.

The members of the committee running the board are and can be only state subjects and no person from outside the state can be associated with its management, he said.

Zeishta Devi shrine is located in the foot hills of Zabarwan mountains over looking world famous Dal lake in the capital city of Srinagar.

The shrine is open to all Hindus and anybody can come and pray but this does not mean he is associated with running of the shrine, he added.

The spokesman clarified that the seer had not visited the shrine for the past over 3 years.
