Pak to host SAARC Home Ministers on Nov 27

Islamabad: Pakistan will host a meeting of the Home Ministers of the SAARC countries here on November 27 to discuss ways to deal with the menace of terrorism in the region, an official spokesman said today.

It would be the third meeting of the SAARC Home and Interior Ministers, which will be preceded by meetings of Focal Points of the eight-nation grouping Drugs Offences Monitoring Desk, Terrorist Offences Monitoring Desk and Immigration Authorities on November 24,Foreign Office spokesman Muhammad Sadiq told reporters here.

He said the 8th SAARC Conference on Cooperation in Police Matters will also be held on November 25,following which the meeting of Interior Secretaries will take place on November 26.

The spokesman said these meetings are expected to review the implementation of decisions taken at earlier talks and discuss additional measures to promote regional cooperation to deal with the menace of terrorism, narcotics and organised crime.

He said a number of other subjects, including the SAARC Visa Exemption Scheme, Convention on Mutual Assistance in Criminal Matters and matters relating to combating corruption will also be discussed during the meetings.
