CISF New Director General of CISF takes over

New Delhi: Niraj Ranjan Das, a 1973-batch IPS officer of the West Bengal cadre, today took over as the new Director General of the CISF.

He took the charge from Additional Director General (ADG) of the force R K Bhatia, who was holding the post after it fell vacant with the retirement of DG R K Das on October 31.

Niraj was till now the Additional Director General in the CRPF (East Zone) at Kolkata.

"He had been on central deputation for more than 16 years, of which he served the CISF for 14 years in various capacities ranging from Commandant, Deputy Inspector-General and Inspector General," a Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) spokesperson said.

A postgraduate in Political Science from Delhi University, he was awarded the Police Medal for Meritorious Service in 1985 and President s Police Medal for Distinguished Service in 1996.

The paramilitary CISF is entrusted with the security and protection of vital installations like Delhi Metro, various government buildings and Taj Mahal among others.
