Tuesday, November 18, 2008 14:44 [IST]
Chiplun: The joy of Murad Burondkar knew no boundaries when he came to know that MT Stolt Valor has finally been released and his son, who was one of the hostages, will once again break bread with him.

Naved Burondkar, a B Sc(nautical science) student at T S Chankya College, Nerul, was on a study tour to Europe with MT Stolt Valor when it was hijacked by pirates off the Somalian coast two months ago.

The vessel had 17 Indian crew on board besides Naved.

The vessel was in the possession of kidnappers for 62 days during which Naved's family underwent a great deal of anxiety.

His father along with the families of other hostages had been in contact with Central government.

The ship was finally released on November 16 following a joint effort of National Union of Seafarers of India (NUSI) and government.

The vessel is released and is now on its way to Mumbai along with Naved, Murad told PTI.

It will reach Mumbai by November 23 along with the crew.
