Bhabhua (Bihar): In a shocking incident of honour killing, a 15-year-old boy was mercilessly beaten up and humiliated in full public view before being thrown in front of a running train in Bihar's Kaimur district.
Manish Kumar was accosted by seven people at Marahiyak More under Durgawati police station yesterday when he was on way to school and thrashed for allegedly having an affair with a girl related to him, police said today.
The attackers then shaved his head, smeared his face with black paint and paraded him in the market as Lalita Devi, Manish's mother, pleaded for mercy. None dared to save the boy from the frenzied attackers as the grisly drama continued for more than an hour.
Manish was then taken to the nearby railway track where he was thrown in front of a cargo train that crushed him to death, the sources said.
Lalita Devi has lodged an FIR with Durgawati police station against seven people, including Birendra Baitha, Dhulai Baitha and Yogendra Baitha for murdering her son.
The police, quoting Manish's neighbours said the boy was allegedly having a love affair with a girl whose family was against it.
The affair came to the knowledge of the girl s family when a letter written by the boy to the girl, whose name was withheld by the police, was discovered some time ago.
The accused had reportedly asked Lalita Devi to rein in her son but the affair continued.
Superintendent of Police Rajesh Kumar has suspended Asgar Imam, Sub-Inspector of Durgawati police station for dereliction of duty and directed Deputy Superintendent, Kaimur, Harimohan Shukla to conduct the investigation. Source : PTI
