Another leader quits NC
Wednesday, November 19, 2008 17:48 [IST]
Srinagar: In yet another jolt to National Conference, senior leader Mushtaq Ahmad Teli today quit the party and joined the People's Democratic Party.

Mushtaq, a well-known social activist, joined the PDP along with a large number of his supporters in the presence of party patron Mufti Mohammad Sayeed.

Welcoming them into the party fold, Sayeed said their entry into the PDP would strengthen the organisation.

"It is our pragmatic approach and political agenda which is attracting people to our party," the PDP veteran said.

Mushtaq's father Abdul Samad Teli was a close associate of National Conference founder Sheikh Mohammad Abdullah.

In the recent past, the National Conference, led by Omar Abdullah, had seen desertions in its ranks with a number of leaders joining the PDP and other parties.
