Three day meet on diabetes to be held in Hyderabad

Hyderabad: The 36th Annual Scientific meeting of the Research Society for the study of diabetes in India will be held here from November 21 to 23 .

The three-day national meeting on Diabetes will aim to spread the latest information on research front and to educate doctors and people on prevention and postponement of the disease for the pre-diabetic patients, Chairman Scientific Committee, P V Rao said.

The meet will be inaugurated by the Union Minister of state for Human Resource Development, Purandeshwari.

He pointed out that majority of the country's population is suffering from Diabetes.

In Andhra Pradesh alone 16 percent of the population above the age of 25 years are diabetic and 34 percent are prone to the disease, he added.

The causes of the disease and ways to prevent it will be discussed in the technical session of the meet, he said.

Over 3000 delegates including 50 from overseas will be participating in the meet. Around 70 research papers by the scientist spanning across country will be presented in it.
