Man gets two years RI for running away from police

New Delhi: A man, who allegedly committed culpable homicide and gave a slip to police after being arrested last year, was today sentenced to two years rigorous imprisonment by a Delhi court.

The convict, who was later arrested, was convicted for the offence of obstructing his lawful arrest.

Metropolitan Magistrate J P Nahar awarded Tinku, 27,two years prison term after holding him guilty under Section 224 (resistance or obstruction by a person to his lawful apprehension) of the IPC.

Tinku, a resident of Timarpur here, had run away from clutches of the police after being nabbed by them on April 26, 2007. He was wanted in a case of culpable homicide registered with Timarpur police station.
