Patna: The CPI will have no truck with either RJD or LJP in Bihar and will field candidates in 7 seats for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections under the banner of the Left Front in the state.
CPI state council secretary Badri Narayan Lal told PTI that the party held parleys with Front major CPI(M) and an informal discussion with CPI-M(Liberation) to forge a grand alliance of the Communist parties to take on the might of the communal forces.
While the party has decided to contest 7 seats, the CPI had kept the options open to accommodate the other Left parties, considering the pockets of strengths, in a bid to avoid division of votes among the Left bloc, he said.
The party has identified Motihari, Banka, Jamui, Karakat, Begusarai, Khagaria and Madhubani seats and has sought the clearance from its Central committee, Lal said.
Lal categorically said the CPI would not have any alliance with the RJD and the LJP as they had supported the Indo-US civil nuclear deal which the Left Front had vehemently opposed. The Left had also withdrawn its support to the UPA government at the Centre over the deal.
The party had contested six LS seats - Balia, Bettiah, Madhubani, Buxar, Gaya, Samastipur and Madhubani on its own in 2004 and drew a blank.
The party after holding demonstrations demanding correction in the BPL list, proper compensation to flood victims, regular power supply and free certified seeds and fertilisers will organise a state-level rally here on January 29,party sources said.
