Nine Maoists arrested in Gumla

Gumla: Nine Maoists including a self-styled area commander were today arrested from Gumla district and arms and cash were seized from them.

District police superintendent Baljit Singh said the Maoists were apprehended when they went to a house. The police led by Sesai police station in charge Manoj Kumar Gupta surrendered the house and the Maoists surrendered to them without putting up any fight.

The self-styled area commander was identified as Uday Oraon alias Mudi-Katua, who had escaped from Lohardaga jail some time back, he said.

Four carbines, three regular rifles, 250 bullets, besides Rs 6 lakh and Maoist literature were seized from them, Singh said.
