Water rationing begins in Shimla
Thursday, November 20, 2008 15:10 [IST]

Shimla: Water rationing began in the famous tourist destination here from today following a dip in the supply.

Water will be supplied every alternate day in different localities from today onward due to a dip in the water supply, Mayor of Shimla Municipal Corporation (SMC) Narinder Kataria told PTI.

He said against the requirement of 35 MLD (Million Litre Daily) to fulfil the need, the supply at present has fallen to 28-29 MLD which forced the corporation to resort to rationing.

It is mainly because of low electricity voltage due to which adequate supply is not received from Gumma, Churhatnalla and other sources, Kataria added.
