Mumbai: Mumbai ATS was today granted the transit remand of Sudhakar Chaturvedi, believed to be a member of Abhinav Bharat, in connection with the September 29 Malegaon blast case.
Chaturvedi was arrested by the Matunga police on November 4 for possessing a revolver and fake army identity card. A magistrate court transferred Chaturvedi's custody to the Mumbai Anti-Terror Squad following an application filed by them. He is suspected to have been in contact with Lieutenant Colonel Prasad Purohit, an accused in the Malegaon blasts, and is alleged to have arranged meetings between the persons arrested so far in the case in Madhya Pradesh and Maharashtra.
Chaturvedi is likely to be taken to the Nashik court tomorrow where the ATS will seek his police custody. Abhinav Bharat, a Pune-based organisation, is suspected to be linked to the Malegaon blast which left six persons dead.
Ten persons have been arrested so far in connection with the case.
