Shimla: Winter today knocked at the doors of Himachal Pradesh with the higher reaches of the state witnessing snowfall and the town and other places receiving rain, which brought down temperatures by about 5 degrees Celsius in the hill state.
The famous tourist site of Kufri on the outskirts of Shimla registered 6 cm snowfall since last night, Met office Director Manmohan Singh told PTI.
Reports of snowfall have also been received from Rohtang pass, Kalpa, mountain peaks and Chitkul and Sangla in Kinnaur district.
A report from Lahual Spiti district said due to the snowfall on 3978-metre high Rohtang Pass, state road transport buses stopped going to Keylong from today.
A white sheet was also seen on the peaks mountains in the district.
A report from Chamba said the famous hill station of Dalhousie received its first spell of snowfall of the season.
The Sach pass, which links Pangi valley to Chamba, and is situated at an altitude of 4,413 metres has been closed to vehicular traffic due to heavy snowfall.
The region is now cut off from the rest of the state. Source : PTI
